Monster bag

I was visiting Craftster the other day and stumbled upon a cute bag and decided I wanted to make it too. It's a monster bag and it's the sweetest thing I've ever seen! I made one for my daughter and she absolutely loves it. So does everyone she goes to school with. What do you think? Oh and here's where I got my inspiration: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=190912.0

Crochet Challenge!

Crocheting with Dee has a wonderful challenge that I think I'm up to! Anyone who crochets, knits, weaves, any fiber art, can make a scarf and donate it. That's it, pretty easy, right? I'm going to donate mine with a afghan to my favorite charity, Project Linus. I think it's going to be really fun!

Many busy months!

I've been so busy, busy, busy! :) First with taxes, with children and with crochet. I feel like I've made so many squares, hook cases and purses I could circle the world with them! lol I'll try to get pictures up so you can see the gorgeous squares I received and maybe even a pattern of the crochet hook cases I've been making as birthday gifts for a yahoo group I'm in.
I've made so many purses out of so many different materials from a pattern in the Stitch 'N Bitch crochet book by Debbie Stoller, people love them! It seems as if I make one and then have to make another right after. It's a very good thing they make so fast.

New Year resolutions!

I've recently joined the Compact, a group in which you commit to not buying anything new for an entire year in order to reduce the environmental footprint. Going out to dinner, medical prescriptions, socks and underwear excepted. I'm doing fairly well so far, I'm a true shopaholic, so it's been a surprise to me that I haven't had a hard time not buying anything. We are allowed to buy used clothing, but somehow that's not such an enticement to me, thus my pledge to be a refashionista. http://wardroberefashion.blogspot.com/
I have made a pledge for the next 6 months to become a refashionista and will not buy anything new. I will either make it myself, with fabric or with yarn, or I will refashion something found at a thrift shop, garage sale, or my own closet. I'm really looking forward to the coming year. I think I'm going to do well. I think I will be very sucessful in reducing my environmental footprint and still be as fashionable as I want to be!

The Pledge
The Wardrobe Refashion Pledge
I, _________Pledge that I shall abstain from the purchase of "new" manufactured items of clothing, for the period of 2 / 4 / 6 months.
I Pledge that I shall refashion, renovate, recycle pre-loved items for myself for the term of my contract.
I Pledge that I shall create and craft items of clothing for myself with my own hands in fabric, yarn or other medium for the term of my contract.
I Pledge that I will share the love and post a photo of my refashioned, renovated, recycled, crafted or created item of clothing on the Wardrobe Refashion blog,so that others may share the joy that thy thriftyness brings!

Christmas

Well Christmas is finally over and I don't know whether to be sad or to be relieved! I spent so much time making hats and scarves, I didn't really get to enjoy the holiday. Anyone else feeling a little overwhelmed? I guess my resolution for this year, besides the traditional more exercise and weight loss, will be to start my projects earlier, like maybe in January! Anyway there is 1 birthday in June another in February along with a square swap and 3 more birthdays in March,. So I guess it's time to get going and crochet, crochet, crochet!!

this is my first post and I'm so excited about it! I've been crocheting since I was 12 and I absolutely love it. I enjoy everything about it, it's so relaxing and such a creative outlet. Right now I'm making hats for friends and family and since I've only recently learned to make corkscrew curls they are starting to show up on hats I've been making. I'm thinking about putting the curls on purses and afghans but I haven't gotten that far yet. Have a great day and God bless!!
